Good morning, families. I have just done a circuit of the school, popped into each class and every single pupil has settled in brilliantly, from our new Chestnuts to the mighty Oaks in Year 6!
Pick ups:
Just a reminder of the pick-up system for all families!
Foundation Stage (as from next week): our gates open at 3:10 and our staff spot you and let your child out to greet you with bubbly smiles at 3:15;
Y1: 3:15, unless they have an older sibling (Year 3 to 5), which will mean a 3:30 pick-up in the playground. IF their sibling is Year 6, then they will go around to the car park to join the Year 6 3:25 pick-up (we chaperone them, so don’t worry!)
Y2: 3:15 in the car park. Please don’t get there TOO early, as we have After School Club staff who need to get into our car park. they have an older sibling (Year 3 to 5), which will mean a 3:30 pick-up in the playground. IF their sibling is Year 6, then they will go around to the car park to join the Year 6 3:25 pick-up (we chaperone them, so don’t worry!)
Years 3 – 5: 3:30 in the playground. Please do not turn up and park too early, as it causes some congestion!
Year 6: 3:25 pick-up in the car park, along with any younger siblings. PLEASE, PLEASE do not turn up in the car park before 3:20, as it greatly affects the movement of vehicles around school, including the Year 2 cars at 3:15.
REQUEST: Please remember the one-way SUGGESTION (Thurlbear Straight and then down the hill and away from school via the village, slowly, please!) Please remember that some families live Staple Fitzpaine and, therefore, go opposite to this flow. BUT, please try and maintain this flow, as it really has helped in recent years.
Obviously, this is the first week and there will always be teething troubles but, in the past few years, these systems have massively helped the roads around Thurlbear.
