End-of-Week Review 7.6.24

It has been a very busy week after our half term break and the D Day commemorations have been front-and-centre of our thinking and prayers, this week. In Collective Worship yesterday, I was delighted to shared some of Mr Gunstone’s photos from his visit to Normandy and surrounding areas. It very much brought home the magnitude of D Day and the days before and following. Our Year 6 also added some fantastic details, as they had just received a great session from Somerset Museum Service. Altogether, it was a very powerful day.

Again, sports teams have excelled and we now have regional finals to attend in the coming weeks. Girls’ and Boys’ cricket and football squads have done great jobs and now face a wider challenge in their pursuits!

We have some key dates in school calendar coming up, including:

  • 11th June Year 5 Science day @ Queens
  • W/B 10th June: Year 4 Multiplication Test
  • W/B 10th June: Year 1 Phonics Screening
  • 15th June (Saturday) choir performing at the Staple Fitzpaine Fair
  • W/B 17th June: Year 4 Multiplication Test
  • W/B 17th June: Thurlbear Health Week
  • 20th June Carymoor waste workshops
  • Friday 21st June Sports Afternoon for families to attend
  • 24th – 26th June: Year 6 residential.
  • July 1st INSET Day
  • July 2nd Transition Day for Year 6 and Moving Up day in Thurlbear!
  • 12th July reports out to families
  • 16th July Year 6 Performance
  • 24th July – Leavers’ Service
  • 24th July: last day….
